Welcome to the Town of Lucama!

With over 13,000 cars a day traveling US Highway 301 and numerous other federal highways within 5 miles (see location below) any business would do well.

Also, with low property tax and electric rates (see electric rates below) we offer a business friendly environment. Currently, numerous small service-type industries are needed, as well as other small businesses that strive to cut costs. While we have not listed everything, we want to provide you with some information that may be helpful to you. The Town of Lucama Board of Commissioners and the employees of Lucama would like to welcome you to our community.

The Town of Lucama was founded in 1889.

Lucama’s population is approximately 1143 and growing.

We are a full service community. We provide our residents with water and sewer services, electricity and garbage collection. Police protection is provided by Wilson County Sheriff Department. Lucama and the surrounding area is served by the Crossroads Volunteer Fire Department and by the Wilson County EMS for Paramedic and EMT care and transport to area hospitals.

The Town of Lucama is located in Wilson County, adjacent to the new NC 264-bypass to Greenville, around the City of Wilson, and within a short driving distance to I-95 and the new I-795 (formerly known as Highway 117) from Goldsboro.

Lucama is only a 5-minute drive to Wilson, NC and a forty-five minute drive to the state’s capitol, Raleigh. Virginia, South Carolina, and North Carolina beaches are all less than two-hours away.

Lucama has the 14th least expensive electric rates out of 72 municipal owned electric systems in the state and is currently promoting its low electric rates in hopes of encouraging small businesses to locate in and around Lucama.

The electric rate for all residential and commercial customers within the Town’s municipal owned electric system is shown below:

Residential:

Basic Charge: $13.20
Over 0 kwh: $0.15/kwh

Small Commercial:

Basic Charge: $13.20
First 1500 kwh: $0.170/kwh
Over 1500 kwh: $0.1375/kwh

Large Commercial:

Basic Charge: $13.20
First 1500 kwh: $0.170/kwh
Over 1500 kwh: $0.1375/kwh

The Town of Lucama and the surrounding area offers a variety of workforce skills to interested manufacturers.

The workforce in Wilson County has a good history of providing skilled workers for manufacturing facilities in the county. Other manufacturing facilities in the county include Bridgestone-Firestone, Ball-Foster Glass, and several pharmaceutical companies.
